Starting at the Lecompton interchange of I-70 and the Turnpike, K-10 traverses south, picking up US 40 along the way and skirting around Clinton Lake before turning east to US 59. US 40 leaves K-10 to join US 59 as K-10 widens from two lanes to 4, skirting the southern edge of Lawrence. On the east side of town, K-10 curves east and races across the Kansas River valley, going through Eudora and DeSoto and skirting the northern edge of Olathe before ending at the southwest corner of the I-435 beltway about a mile short of I-35.
