Full Description

History

The original K-2 was designated as either to partially match the connecting highway in Colorado (CO 102) or numbered based on the grid system as the lowest available even number for the northernmost east-west grid road.

In 1930, US 36 had its west end moved from Colby, KS to Byers, CO. In Kansas, 36 was shifted off of K-22 (which was also re-designated US 83 at about the same time) and on to K-2 and CO 102. As a result, the K-2 designation was withdrawn.
