Camp Restrictions

For the record, I know that the Kansas State High School Activities Assn. and the National Federation of State High School Activity Associations don't like all-star and all-american type deals--they say that they have nothing to do with education.  Who cares--why don't you encourage people to use their talent on loan from god (a little Rush Limbaugh lingo there).  The KSHSAA rules also prohibit any of the groups from cashing in on their excellence by attending Nationals.  For more Info and comment, see the KSHSAA page

Real Spirit

On Friday, September 12, 1997:  Lawrence High played Olathe East at Haskell Stadium (the Home field).  The Weather Forcasters predicted rain, and they were correct.  During halftime, it poured.  Despite the adversity and being soaked to the skin, the cheerleaders and pom stayed out there to cheer on the team.  That's real spirit.
Monday, September 22, 1997:  Same Opponent, only this time it was the Free State Firebirds playing them.  What added to the situation was the fact that they were never up, unlike LHS, which the football team made a few mistakes, allowing the so-far undefeate O-East to score.  Still, isn't supporting the team in all adversity the definition of Cheerleading.
October of 1998 proved to be very wet for LHS, Free State, and KU.  With Free State, we even had a four-hour rain delay on a Saturday Morning game.  Tom Pike once stated that the most memorable football games are the ones in the not-so-good weather.
