History

K-222 was constructed and designated as part of a re-alignment of K-96 bypassing the city of Mound Valley.

Labette County agreed to take over maintenance of this route as part of an agreement to build a new US 400 bypass of Parsons. The route was offically turned back when the Parsons bypass opened in 2001.
