The Temporary shoo-fly detour for US 59 at N 500 road is paved on the future permanent alignment of the US 59 freeway. The asphalt roadway will be recycled, and a permanent Portland cement concrete surface will be built along this route.

A new stretch of road is being paved. Eventually, the current US 59/future frontage road will be permanently moved to this new roadway.

No right turn, no left turn... What do we do? Well, there isn't a road to turn into here now. N 650 Road is being raised above the new US 59 and a interchange will be constructed here. The current US 59, which is slated to become a frontage road, will be realigned to the west... thus, this location can expect to see additional dirt fill.

Because of the new interchange between the new US 59 and N 650 Road south of Lawrence, the current US 59/future Frontage Road has to be relocated to the west. Here's the north end of the relocation, with the bridge taking N 650 road over the new Freeway in the background.

Here's the south end of the diversion of the current US 59/future Frontage Road at N 650 Road.
