I had one train-watching jaunt this month, plus a few Amtrak and BNSF grabs from the Santa Fe Station platform.
July 3
July 9: I wound up heading to Laptad’s corner north of Lawrence. Back in June, a coal train had derailed. Several of the derailed cars were still on site.
Also, on a bit of a ‘Kansas Highways’ front, I noticed that Wellman Road, my route home from 2008-2021, had its highway number changed from 1045 to 1047.
I picked up a couple more trains at Midland Junction, where the now-CR 1047 meets US 24-59
July 10: Amtrak 3 led by “Pepsi Can” heritage unit 160.
July 14: The second shot of Pepsi, this time on Amtrak 4 in daylight.
July 24: Five engines on a “Z Train”
July 30: Late Amtrak 4 and BNSF coal maneuvers
