Kansas Governor
I voted for Republican Jim Barnett; however, our incumbent Governor Kathleen Sebelius is expected to be re-elected.
Attorney General:
Phill Kline… you can egg me all you want after Democratic challenger Paul Morrison wins. Even before the abortion records case comes into play… The fact is, Morrison is popular as the District Attorney of the state’s most populous county… Johnson County. However, I think that Sedgwick County (that’s the county that the city of Wichita is located in) may go for Kline because Wichita is a pro-life hotbed… although I’m sure there are plenty of pro-choice people down there…. In any case, Morrison is sure to take Johnson, Douglas, Shawnee, and Wyandotte counties.
US House (District 2)
I voted for Jim Ryun… unlike in 04, this time around, its expected to be a lot closer… In any case, if there’s any change to be made in Washington… I don’t trust the Democrats to bring it about.
Mid-term elections normally bring about losses for the party in the White House… In fact, the GOP hasn’t made a serious run at incumbent Democrat Dennis Moore in district 3.
State Tresurer… Lynn Jenkins (R)
Insurance Commissioner… Sandy Preager (R)
Neither of these statewide seats are as heated as the AG… the Republican Incumbents have the advantage.
Kansas House District 45
The incumbant Tom Sloan (R) is not facing a Democrat, but he does have a Reform party candidate Jason Littlejohn.
All that’s left were a bunch of Judicial Retention questions… Unlike 2004… there is no organized opposition to retention of any of the judges.
Other issues that I’ll be watching….
Missouri Senate — The incumbant to this seat, Jim Talent (R), has not served a full term… This was the seat that the voters gave to Mel Carnahan posthumously… and some still rib Ashcroft about it to this day. Like in Ryun’s seat, this one is being hotly contested.
Gardner — BNSF is planning on building an intermodal facility along their main line, and voters are asking whether to approve annexation. Although railroad commerce is subject to the Surface Transportation Board and that they are pretty much exempt from local zoning laws, opponents of the annexation issue are hoping to convince BNSF to look elsewhere.

You don’t think that the Dems will bring change, yet you vote for religious nuts whose party has been in power since 1994. The same party responsible for the endless, ill-begotten war that we’re stuck in right now that even a moron could have foreseen to be a disaster (but, back in 2003 those of us who weren’t morons were called “traitors”).
