For me, Labor Day weekend would not be one without me going out and taking pictures of something railroad related. This year, I decided to head out to Camden, Missouri on the joint BNSF Marceline Sub and Norfolk Southern Kansas City District. I was last here on Labor Day weekend in 2018.
At 1312, the action started with a westbound NS Train on BNSF Main 1
Behind the dark horse was a westbound BNSF “Supertrain” also on main 1 at 1327
At 1332, A eastbound BNSF manifest rolled by on the NS number 3 main.
At 1404, I caught another eastbound on 3… this time, it’s a BNSF grain train.
At 1422, I got a hotshot Z on 1.
Right behind the hotshot at 1446 is a 2×1 frac sand train on main 1.
Heading out on the NS main at 1453 is an NS auto parts train.
At 1457, we had a slow-rolling westbound approaching. I caught this white Nissan Sentra running the gates. The unknown driver has now been shamed on Social Media.
As for that westbound, it was an intermodal train.
At 1511, we do it all over again with another hotshot on 1.
One last shot for the day before I switch to road trip mode, and the only action on Main 2: an eastbound ‘Z’ at 1519 with a Kansas City Southern locomotive in the consist.
All photos were taken on September 5, 2020.
