Welcome to route56.com

Welcome to my anchor point on the web. For over 20 years, I have shared various subjects regarding highway, railways, local radio, and more.

I chose the name “route56” in honor of the green and white variant of the US Highway shield that the Kansas Department of Transportation and its predecessor agency used specifically to mark US 56 from the designation of US 56 in 1956 until KDOT elected to adopt the standard black-and-white design in the mid-1980s

    Doggie issues

Last Saturday, the family dog, Eddie, welcomed our neighbors home from their vacation. Eddie likes our neighbors; our neighbors like Eddie. Our neighbor’s dog doesn’t like Eddie. A New Car!

As I previously mentioned, I had an incident with a deer out on US 24 last week that totaled my 2013 Sentra. After having the insurance payout confirmed, it was time to get a car.

  • Parental Advisory: Case Law, Part 2

About a year and a half ago, I posted about a decision of the Kansas Court of Appeals regarding the admission of a defendant’s statements after being pelted with profanities by the arresting officers. It turns out that the State petitioned the Kansas Supreme Court for review, which they accepted. They released their decision today.
