K-220 was established in a August 12, 1959 Highway Commission resolution in conjunction with designating the alignment for I-70 between Salina and Abilene. The number was assigned in sequence. This section of I-70 was completed in 1962.

K-220 was withdrawn in a May 9, 1973 Highway Commission resolution after a hearing on April 27 and turned back to Saline County.

This section of I-70 was completed in 1962. The route was withdrawn around 2013 without a KDOT resolution.

History

K-222 was established in a February 9, 1966 Highway Commission resolution in conjunction with a re-alignment of K-96. The reason for the re-use of this number is unknown. The highway was constructed in 1966 along with the new K-96

The route was withdrawn in a December 5, 2000 KDOT resolution (along with K-134) and turned back to Labette County in consideration for constructing US 400 bypass of Parsons. The turnback was effective upon the opening of the Parsons bypass in 2001.


K-222 (1960)

History

The first K-222 was established via a June 8, 1960 Highway Commission resolution in conjunction with the designation of the US 69 bypass around Arma and the withdrawal of the old alignment through Arma. The number was assigned in sequence. The route connected the new US 69 alignment to South Street in Arma. The Bypass was completed in 1961.

In a September 13, 1961 Highway Commission resolution, the commission restored the old US 69 alignment. As a consequence, the spur was considered redundant, and was withdrawn in a February 14, 1962 Highway Commission resolution.


K-223

K-224

K-224 was established in a January 26, 1977 KDOT resolution in conjunction with a new US 169 “super two” alignment east of Humboldt. The reason for the use of this number is unknown.

The route was withdrawn in a October 11, 2013 KDOT resolution and turned back to Allen county for unknown consideration.


K-225

K-225 was established in a June 8, 1960 Highway Commission resolution connecting US 81 with the under-construction I-35W at 47th Street. The number was assigned in sequence. When the final stretch of the Canal Route opened on what had by then been re-designated I-135 on December 20, 1979, US 81 was routed along 47th from Broadway to I-135, replacing K-225.


K-226

History

K-226 was established in a March 8, 1961 Highway Commission resolution connecting US 81 with I-235 along MacArthur Drive. The number was assigned in sequence. The route was withdrawn on or before December 20, 1979, when the I-135 Canal Route was opened and US 81 was re-routed onto I-135.


K-227

History

K-227 was established in a September 11, 1968 Highway Commission resolution in conjunction with a planned relocation of US 73 to enter Atchison on Woodlawn Avenue. The number was assigned in sequence. The connection between US 59 and Woodlawn was constructed in 1969, but the proposed new US 73 was never built.

In a April 6, 1981 KDOT resolution, a new alignment of US 73 was designated, replacing both the old alignment and the unbuilt proposal. When the new US 73 alignment was completed in 1984, K-227 was re-designated as part of US 73.


K-228

K-230 was withdrawn on July 1, 1996, as the city of Mount Hope had annexed out to K-96. The resolution also established a portion of K-96 as a city connecting link.


K-231

K-231 was established in an August 23, 1961 Highway Commission resolution in conjunction with the designation of I-70 between Dorrance and Salina. The number was assigned in sequence. The new highway connected US 40 to I-70. I-70 east of Dorrance was completed in 1964.

From November 17, 1966 (when I-70 was opened from Hays to Dorrance) to October 13, 1967 (when US 40 was moved onto I-70 from Dorrance to Salina) K-231 was designated as US 40.

K-231 was withdrawn on August 24, 2006 and turned back to Russell county for unknown consideration.


K-232

History

K-232 was established in an August 23, 1961 Highway Commission resolution in conjunction with the designation of I-70 between Dorrance and Salina. The number was assigned in sequence. The new highway was originally slated to connect US 40 to I-70. In a March 12, 1963 resolution, K-232 was extended north across the proposed Wilson dam to K-18 near Lucas. I-70 east of Dorrance was completed in 1964, along with the Wilson dam. K-232 was completed in 1965.

History

A December 22, 1958 resolution established a spur from US 77 to Oketo, contingent upon Marshall county furnishing a 100-foot right-of-way for the route. The county met the conditions, graded and blacktopped the county road, and it was accepted into the highway system on August 9, 1961 as K-233. The number was assigned in sequence.


K-234

History

K-236 was established in a June 14, 1961 Highway Commission resolution. The number was likely assigned in sequence, and the fact that it was a spur off of US 36 a coincidence. The road was constructed by Nemaha county as a blacktop road prior to acceptance as a state highway.

History

K-237 was established in a April 23, 1969 Highway Commission resolution to serve Perry Lake State Park. The road was constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1970. The choice of number is unknown


K-238

Length: 1.433 miles

History

The Flood of 1951 resulted in the main Missouri River channel being shifted to the east, separating St. Joseph’s Rosecrans Airport from the rest of the city. A new Access road was constructed from the US 36 at Elwood and was designated K-238 in a July 12, 1961 Highway Commission resolution.

In 1980, a new US 36 alignment was constructed, bypassing Elwood. K-238 was routed east on the former US 36. In 1993, a new direct connection was made with US 36 south of Elwood, allowing the former US 36 in Elwood to be turned back.
